Janice and Stephen DeFilippi have made many trips to Mysore, India, to study with the late Astanga Vinyasa Yoga guru Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and his grandson Sharath Rangaswamy.
Janice holds Richard Freeman's advanced teaching certificate. She continues to honour one of her first teachers, John Scott.

Stephen began studying yoga in the mid-1970s through his fascination with Zen Buddhism.  He has studied with Manju Jois, and has teacher training certificates from David Swenson, Tim Miller and Richard Freeman.

After becoming a student of yoga in the mid-1990s, Joanne Durocher was soon inspired to begin teaching. She has tried many styles of yoga, finding Astanga Vinyasa Yoga the best tailored to her needs. She has studied with David Swenson and Richard Freeman as well as with many local teachers, including Marcia Solomon, Yogi Vishvketu and, currently, Janice DeFilippi, and has taken workshops in Thai Yoga and Swedish massage. Throughout the years, she has also maintained an ongoing interest in Eastern philosophy and Buddhism.

Karen Hollohan started practicing Astanga yoga in 2001 and continues to practice daily at Astanga Yoga Ottawa.
Karen spent 3 months in Mysore, India, studying with Sharath Rangaswamy and has completed a 200-hour teacher training program in Ottawa. Over the years she has had the privilege to study with many great Astanga yoga instructors including Nancy Gilgoff, David Swenson, John Scott, Tim Miller, Richard Freeman, Manju Jois and Mark and Joanne Darby.

After completing a 200hr Hatha Yoga teacher training in 2006, Danielle Lithwick discovered Janice DeFilippi in Ottawa and committed to daily Mysore practice. She has completed two 40hr Astanga intensives, one with David Swenson, one with Mark Darby. She has workshop experience with Danny Paradise, Nicki Doane, Mark Whitwell, Paul Grilley, Fiona Stang and Chris Richardson. She spent eight months in Mysore, India, studying with Ajay Kumar, including a private one-month Astanga Vinyasa teacher training. She continues to find inspiration through daily practice at Astanga Yoga Ottawa.

Andrea Picher has been studying with Janice and Stephen since 2005 and has completed a 200-hour teacher training with Mark, Joanne and Shankara Darby in Montreal. In 2006, she was privileged to attend a week-long Astanga intensive in New York with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, Sri R. Sharath and Saraswathi and has studied with teachers including David Svenson and David Williams. She continues to practice in the Mysore tradition. Andrea is grateful for the gift inherent in the practice of astanga yoga, the opportunity for personal growth and the privilege to learn from teachers and students alike.  *************************************************************************************************

Karen White began studying Kripalu yoga in 1999. Since then she has continued practice in various styles before devoting her practice to Astanga in the daily Mysore tradition. She has completed her 200-hour teacher training, and has taken numerous workshops from leading teachers including Beryl Bender Birch and David Swenson.
Karen is indebted to the many teachers who have influenced her over the years and is grateful to the practice for its gift of personal transformation.
